The VPR Switch Mode PSU is a specially made 3 rail switching style power supply specifically designed to run a full 11 space 500 series rack. It comes equipped with a Neutrik compatible 5-pin power XLR that conforms to the VPR standard so it is plug-n-play. VPR spec says 130mA per slot per main power rail so a fully loaded 11 space rack would draw 1.43 amps of current. The VPR-SMPS is capable of 2A per main power rail so more than enough for a fully loaded rack and headroom to spare. The SMPS is very efficient at better than 83%. The latest version of this SMPS is pretty well filtered internally however we do recommend additional filtering to optimize performance. This can be achieved with a special filtering version of the 9-11 backplane PCB that gets built into our 11 space rack. With the additional filtering, noise and distortion at 500 series module level is equal to the best linear supplies available. ***Please note: IEC cable from SMPS to mains outlet is not included.
