Just built my first VP28 with CA opamps. Straightforward build if you take your time and triple check everything - especially the LED placement and orientation. High quality PCB and components. The opamps were more difficult than the pre but OK if you take your time and solder and cleanup pcbs carefully. Many of the groupdiy comments talk about 3 hr build times, but I recommend you do a bit, then put it aside for 24hrs so you stay focussed to avoid errors.

This thing sounds great. Previous preamps are a Warm Audio 1073 clone and onboard Motu Preamps. Compared to the 1073 it’s more present, has tighter bass, and is quicker in its response. Complements a fatter sounding Neve style pre well. If you are in doubt as to whether outboard gear beats your interface preamps - it does. I’ll buy more when they are available again.
